1. The American Cosmetic Association (CTFA) uses magnolol, honokiol, and magnolia bark extract as cosmetic raw materials.

2. The 2010 edition of the "International Cosmetic Raw Materials Standard Chinese Name Catalogue" issued by the China Fragrance Association and the "Announcement on the Catalogue of the Names of Cosmetic Raw Materials Used" issued by the China Food and Drug Administration in 2014 both included honokiol, honokiol, and honokiol. As a cosmetic raw material, there is no report of its unsafe external use.
